What Happened in Community Choice Credit Union Data Breach?

On May 28, 2025, Community Choice Credit Union discovered that some files on their computer network had been encrypted by an unauthorized party. Community Choice Credit Union immediately launched an internal investigation, notified law enforcement, and partnered with a leading cybersecurity firm to assess the situation.

Investigation determined that on or around May 25, 2025, an unauthorized individual accessed and acquired some data from the network.

What information was involved in the Choice Credit Union Data Breach?

The affected files may have included the following personal information:

  • Full name

  • Social Security number

  • Community Choice account number

At this time, we have no evidence that this information has been used for identity theft or fraud.

What is Choice Credit Union doing to help?

Affected individuals are offered free one-year membership to Experian IdentityWorks℠ Credit 3B, which includes:
