What Happened?
Veriff confirmed that an unauthorized third party accessed certain personal data stored on its systems. The breach impacted customers who used Veriff’s identity verification service for a Total Wireless promotion.
Veriff notified Total Wireless of the incident on December 10, 2025, and provided a list of affected individuals.
Importantly, Total Wireless’ internal systems were not compromised. The breach occurred solely within Veriff’s platform.
What Information Was Exposed?
The stolen data may include:
Image of your government-issued ID
Full name
Postal address
Date of birth
This information was submitted when customers verified their identity through Veriff.
How Did the Breach Occur?
Veriff reported that an unauthorized party gained access to certain systems that stored identity verification records. Once the breach was discovered, Veriff immediately:
Secured affected systems
Launched a forensic investigation
Retained a cybersecurity firm
Notified Total Wireless
Reported the incident to law enforcement
Total Wireless confirmed that the breach was isolated to Veriff and did not impact its own infrastructure.
